Avro 671 Rota I (Cierva C.30A)

Used for calibrating early radar stations. The Rota would hover and the radar operators
would calibrate their sets to the image. On one occasion one Avro Rota was attacked by FW190s.The Royal Air Force had a squadron of them made up of second hand civilian examples and some made from spares.During 1944 many of them were given new rotors. In 1940 examples of the C30 and C40 were used on army co operation in France. Many of the early helicopter pilots such as "Jeep" Cable, Reggie Brie and Alan Marsh were members of this squadron
