As memo serves the soviets had a couple of Spitfires in VVS service.

I checked from my friend, who is a war historian, about this incident. He knew it and said it was not shot down but was forced to land when fuel ran out in Feb 1942. It was later repaired and entered service on finnish side in 1943.

Here is the same plane .. Hurricane Mk.II of the 152IAP, "White 42", s/n.Z2585, force-landed near Tuoppajarvi and captured by Finnish forces on 18th February 1942
