Consolidated B-24D Liberator

Shown here is B-24D Liberator (124109/C) of the 466th BG, based at ' Station 120', Attleborough, Norfolk, England. This aircraft was used by the 466th for formation assembly purposes had a combat career with the 303rd BS/93rd BG at Hardwick before retirement. Named Ready and Willing, it had taken part in the famous low-level mission to the Ploesti oil refineries in Romania, flown by John Roche's crew. Applying the distinctive markings to this aircraft at Attleborough after the original camouflage had been removed proved to be a very demanding task. The large letter 'L' on the white vertical tail was the group identity letter. The aircraft is shown on hardtsand # 52, near Weston Green, looking north-west.
