This GR.Mk I belonged to No. 120 Squadron, RAF Coastal Command, based at Aldergrove (Northern Ireland) in late 1942.
It is fitted with an early form of ASV (Air-to-Surface Vessel) radar as well as an underfuselage gunpack housing four 20mm cannon. It was the first RAF aircraft capable of closing the 'Atlantic Gap'.
