Shown here is a SB2C-3 Helldiver of VB-15 on board the carriwer USS Essex (CV-9) after returning from a mission in support of the landings on Saipan with damage to the right elevator and stabiliser, 19th June, 1944. Of note is the fact that they successfully shot down a Japanese B5N2 'Kate' torpedo-bomber on thier way back to the carrier. Note also the jeep on the deck-edge lift.
