Douglas A-4M Skyhawk

Shown here is Douglas A-4M Skyhawk (BuNo 159491) dropping two napalm canisters over a mountain area. The A-4M is from Marine Attack Training Squadron One Zero Two (VMAT-102) Skyhawks.Note: The DVIC gives the location as "New River, North Carolina" and the date "7 Dec 1998". The date must be wrong, as the A-4M was phased out in 1990. The type of painting also dates the photo to the 1970s. Also, (VMAT-102) was stationed at MCAS Yuma in Arizona, which does look more like the countyside depicted, much in contrast to North Carolina. U.S.Defense
