August 18, 1903 Karl Jatho flies his Motordrachen for a brief hop. Jatho’s glider is quipped with a 10 Hp motor driving a pusher propeller. Hanover Germany now claims that he was the first to fly, not the Wrights, by four months. His wings were based on Zadonia seed which flies very stable as it drifts to the ground. Eventually Jatho would produce a successful aircraft in 1909 that was fully controllable.
