Shown here is a Piasecki-Vertol HUP-2 taking-off from the deck of the 'Essex' class carrier USS Valley Forge during the Korean war. These HUP-2 helicopters were carried for use on planeguard and utilty duties, they were also adapted for the anti-submarine role as well. Note the F2H-2 Banshee of either VF-51 or VF-52 being prepared for launching.
