Shown here is the aircraft carrier USS Hornet
(CV-8) under attack from a Japanese Aichi D3A2 "Val" dive-bomber on the morning of 26 October 1942. This aircraft struck the ship's stack and then her deck. A Nakajima B5N2 "Kate" torpedo bomber is flying over the Hornet after dropping its torpedo.
