USS Wadleigh

Shown here is the USS Wadleigh (DD-689) exploding mines in Kossol Passage, Palau. After she had exploded twelve mines successfully, she fouled a thirteenth. The explosion shattered an engine-room, killing three men, and put the ship out of action.
