Shown here is USS William T. Powell (DE-213) taken at Houston, Texas, after conversion to a radar picket ship, in October 1945. Five inch/38 mountings, and eight 40 mm Bofors aft, have been added. The new, heavy after tripod mast, and the many new aerials, transforn the appearance of this ship (USN).
