When building 1/72nd biplanes, wires made of stretched sprue are almost inevitable, since there is very little space to pull out and stretch the alternative material such as fishing line and strings from nylon stockings. I cut the stretched sprue a few mms longer than needed, glue with CA and...
Thank you all for the comments.
Good advice, Sancer. I thought that would save me like it did on the backside, but filing and sanding the front side of wing piece would lift up the whole wing front, so the nice fit on the upside would be gone, too. There seems to be two solutions to this...
Then I turned it over and uh-oh:
There's more, this red panel line (which isn't there) was considered pointless buy Italeri, I guess.
Carved the backside of the wing piece and it fit OK. But front needs work.
I smell putty. Much, much of it.
Flaps, ailerons and slats all have been slaughtered. I had to cut them with ordinary no.11 blade. I don't have a razor saw yet. This resulted in losing stock, of course, and I had to spend some time replacing them from an old credit card. That's how they looked, fresh out of slaughterhouse:
I...
Hi everyone
It's been more than three years since my last build. We had another son, he was into everything in the first years, so it turned out to be dangerous to keep stuff like IPA and white spirits around, which led me to a take a long break. Repaired a few Dual turntables during this...
Not quite right, but it's a finish anyway.
Tip for dummies like myself: Don't leave your models in the open, even for a short break. You won't know how short that would be and all the dust will stick to your aircraft. And by this 'open', I mean in a room.
My new build is a wwi...
Business boom, arrival of a second kid, this and that made this poor little kit lying on the table for months. Perfect chance to gather dust. Couldn't wash it away or wipe it away so I said "yeah, whatever" and moved on to gloss cote. Well, all the dust and particles are sealed on the plane now...
After protecting the RV band with tamiya tape, I painted the camouflage.
I could have been more careful. Vertical stab took its share of green while painting top sides of horizontal stabs. Have to deal with it tomorrow. Another thing to fix is the mottling of vertical stab. I messed up...
After a two month break dedicated to turntable fixing, I'm finally back to this Dora.
Started with the prepainted spinner. This time, uhu-tac worm didn't adhere well to it, so I had to do it with tamiya tape, but what I feared has come to life. Not as good as that in Heinz Bär build.
It was...
Thanks for the info, Wojtek. Fortunately, the priority of a newbie like myself is not accuracy. Once again, I'll try my best to finish this as decent as I can. I'll dig into an Eduard Sopwith Camel in 1/48 along with this one, then I'll deal with a 1/48 Fw190A3 of Tamiya. I don't want to ruin...
Almost no fitting issues, almost no cockpit detail. Just a seat and a decal for the instrument panel which is bigger than the panel itself. I couldn't keep the decal in place -don't know if that's because of the age of it or the lack of my skill- so I dumped it. It won't be seen anyway, since...
Thank you all for the nice comments. I'm glad you liked it.
This is a website all about aircrafts, but I find no irrelevance in printing these vehicle photos since it is part of this kit. I've been dumb enough to glue the tyres at the beginning, so they all broke like four times each. I even...
