Yep. A buddy of mine's Dad went on his ultimate hunt in Kodiak. When they told him which bear to kill, he fired. And fired again. And again. On the 5th round, the bear ducked its head and Mr. S. put one in its brain. All its vitals were shredded, but it took the head shot to fully stop it.
