There are two static displays of Wright R3350 Duplex Cyclone engines at the Doolittle museum. I took 109 photos and organized them by fore, aft, starboard, port, and fuel system. I am interested in technical information if anyone cares to share... manuals, identification of parts, etc. Here...
If you have technical knowledge, or well-reasoned suspicions about items seen in the pictures I have posted on Flickr of the B17G Flying Fortress owned by the Collings Foundation, please provide those comments in this forum. I will take those comments and add them to the photograph descriptions...
I posted some technical pictures of Witchcraft, the Collings Foundation's B24J. There are a lot of items in the photographs that could use more technical identification and description. Here is a link to that forum...

I watched a youtube video on the early runs from India, and it seemed that engine overheating was a huge issue at takeoff. It would be nice to find a picture of the engine boneyard and add it to this thread.
I went to the "Wings of Freedom" event today (01June13) at de-commissioned McClellan AFB. They had a P51C, B17, and B24 on static display. I got to go through the B17 and B24 and I took a lot of pictures, emphasizing the ball turrets and mechanical items of the planes. I will start a new...
Can anyone direct me to more pictures and history regarding the scrapping of B29's on Tinian? Breaks my heart. What was the reason? Recovery of precious metals?
I am thinking along the lines of the following:
1. American uniforms, or "guests" in allies uniforms.
2. Follow the traditions of the Marine Corps, with regard to a mess night. See appendix D of the following:
http://navyrotc.berkeley.edu/docs/Drill%20Manual%204.pdf
3. Have an empty table...
Youtube has quite a few videos. Use "b29" as the search parameter, and watch every video that has something to do with the b29. That should be helpful. Gy Nelson
I am curious to know if anyone in the Sacramento or Northern California area might be interested in doing a mess night with guests, in WWII atire. The idea would be to dress in an Allies dress uniform (Class B or higher), and to create a mess night that is period accurate. For example, in the...
Interests: B29's; WWII USAAF; period uniforms and accoutriment; WWII cryptology: Enigma, Bomb, Bletchley Park, Touring machine; Unterseeboot's (U boats); Manhattan project (particularly the history and physics of it); WWII technological advances; spys, agents, and spycraft--particularly devices...
I am learning about the B29, a new interest. I am curious to know if the Central Fire Control (CFC) computer was able to disingage shooting when the machine guns pointed towards the wings, tail, engines, or the observation bubbles?
