In one of my old air combat board games, the FW190A-8 was pretty much a turd in the climb department.
Looking at Mike Sprick’s “LW Fighter Aces,” I see the following
Fw190A-8: BMW801D, 2100hp, 3600 FPM
Bf109G-6: DB605,1800hp, 4560 FPM
P47D: PW R2800, 2300hp, 2780 FPM
P51D: P-Merlin, 1695hp...
I currently have some of the 1/100 Angels High on the table. The Messerschmitts present as G-2 (no boils, no wheel bumps on the wings. The come in Desert or a poor “greys” scheme. The cammie looks better now and the planes got new numbers.
The tabletop was for an ACW fight. The planes will...
Greetings all!
I was looking for some aircraft information the other day. Doing a search, I came across this site many times! Shame on me for letting life, travels, remodeling, and that damn Historical Miniatures Gaming hobby of mine get in my way! It seems with 6460 "New" things on this site...
I found this little gem:

The G-6 / MW 50 is iirc an early designation for those G-6s carrying MW-50 boost, too. The /R2 bird is a fighter-recce version with cameras and MW-50.
And the...
On 12 O'Clock High, I have a Similar thread
over there they say NO U3 fighter model made but part of a recce conversion. Think I've completed a whole circle back to the starting point.

from the "Messerschmitt Bf109 Chronology" thread by Corsning, post #77 dated 28 Oct 2014
I made bold the passage that likely led to my trouble.
"In the first three months of...
I have a quick question on the Gustav variants.
Here goes, for Bf109G-6.
The /U2 is GM1
I know approx 500 planes were converted, early 1944, for this equipment to be used w/MW50 vs former GM1 use. I understand, could be wrong, that they remained with the /U2 designation.
Then we have the /U3...
WOW, three years and two months later.....
Life has thrown me a few serious curve balls. I'll omit the details at this juncture. Let me say I have been quite busy.
On the fun side of things, I have been painting WW2 stuff in 15mm and 28mm, Bolt Action and more recently Chain of Command...
Quite the thread....it won't die and covers a multitude of ideas! It has been quite some time since I've been on WW2AC, I remember this thread when I last dropped in.
I find it interesting that the US Army would not change from .30-06 to .276 for the Garand yet come up with an entirely new...
I was discussing this raid with brother John the other day. His pal Scott was saying Jan '44 that the LW was spent. Brother John was saying no, not the case. Before even looking up the mission, I told John that the LW was probably not in the Greatest shape then but they were far from down and...
