I was lucky and arrived right as the flood subsided and got out right before a huge earthquake. Unfortunately, a leaking air conditioning unit, which severely damaged the wooden floor where my workstation was going to be, has to be dealt with. Everything seems to be sabotaging me!
Unfortunately I ended up stuck in Manila for much longer than planned and missed the submission date for this project! Ugh, definitely plan to finish my sketch though.
I've bought an airbrush, but still need to find a compressor, so the wildcat has been put off for a little while until I can give it the paint job that it deserves. I've got to make a trip to the Philippines that may last about a week, but then I'll be back and modeling in full force, and the...
I'm really having a lot of fun with this, and have decided to invest in a good Iwata airbrush kit. I was thinking the HP-BCS as it's available in my area for a pretty reasonable price. More to come later...
I'm about to use future for the first time as well. After applying a coat of future to seal the decals in, can I paint over the coat with something like Tamiya's XF-86 Flat Clear? Would this need to be thinned at all, or can I simply put a thin layer over the sealing layer of future?
I've been fighting with colors for a while trying to get a good mix that will give me the color of that panel. I figure that panel is the best guide, considering photos I see on the web and in books have a top color that ranges from light blue to dark gray for the same airplane. This is a real...
Thanks for all the help guys. I just ended up scraping off just about all of the top layer of paint with a toothpick and my fingernail. I tried to just get some of the bumps off, but I ended up removing most of the paint. I repainted one side of the top and put it under a big bowl. I just peeked...
I just gave my wildcat a second coat of paint, which I mixed super well and went on easily and without problems. When I came back after about an hour, the entire thing looks all rough and bumpy because of what appears to be a bunch of dust and dirt that stuck to it. My girlfriend had started up...
Thanks for the panel photo and the encouragement. I got the first coat on top on today. It was a mix between Mr. Color's intermediate blue and Vallejo dark blue grey. I was trying to match the color on the panel Rich posted, but I'll need to mix in a little more intermediate blue as it's still...
