    Worst aircraft of WW2?

Very cool-looking decoy though, eh? Which is a bit of a paradox: for being a real stinker the 88 has always looked like a kick-@ss AC to me. A Botha or a Buffalo would probably not draw near as much attention as an 88 in decoy service.

Did the US save Europe in WW2?

Don't get me wrong, I do not consider myself in the same league with you guys, and I also feel that the US owes a debt of gratitude to the UK for standing firm. I have often had the same nagging thoughts regarding Axis strategy (or lack of) - this thread brings some of these questions into play...

    Worst aircraft of WW2?

The Breda 88 was comparable in flight characteristics to the original Wright Flyer (no offense meant to the Wright Bros) = at times capable of becoming airborne for brief moments, when actually able to get airborne incapable of lateral movement. All the other AC in the thread could at least fly.

    Best Twin-engined fighter

Jumping on the P-38 bandwagon: going with P-38 since thread concerns best twin-engined "fighter." The Lightning was a major player in all theaters, may not have been quite as versatile an AC as Mossie/Ju-88, but in pure fighter role I don't see how anyone can seriously argue against the P-38...

Did the US save Europe in WW2?

There is no way the USA would not supply material as the American god, the mighty $$$$, would reign supreme. Probably the most valid point made on this thread thus far. Don't get me wrong, its an interesting discussion - why else would I still be keeping up with it after 50+ pages? Wish...

    Pics from the skatepark today!

Last time I seriously rode a skateboard it had metal wheels - hit a pebble bigger than a BB and it was all over. When I see the sweet boards my boy has it almost makes want to give it another try... almost. I'll ask junior what tricks you are doing in these pics this evening = always funs...

Best Aircraft in Many Different Roles Part II

I believe they are focusing on WW2, but agree that the skyraider was the most versatile AC of all time. I read an account (I believe on this forum) written by skyraider pilot who was assigned to carry a nuke into USSR in the event of WW3 (in the mid-1950's I think). He gave simulated account...

    Worst aircraft of WW2?

At least the Buffalo could successfully take off (even from carrier deck) and was manuverable enough to return to the same carrier deck or runway after completing its mission. It was an even bet whether a Breda 88 would even be able to get off the ground - and once airborne performance was so...

Here is My FW190-D9" Dora" Baby!

She's a beaut, I feel like jumping in and taking her for a spin... Last year I bought a Testors P-38 for my boy, and uhhh, we did not do so well... It sat around half-done in my fishing tackle shop for several months before I sadly discarded it. Don't understand why doing things like reel...

What Is The Last Movie/Show You Saw?

"For a Few Dollars More" = my favorite of the "man with no name" trilogy. Me and my son (9 years old and already a Sergio Leone affectionado) have already seen this one many times - but its one of those movies that you often find while channel surfing and just can't turn off.

Hanover Virginia: Overcast, mid 50s = perfect fishing weather (and the fish are biting well for mid-December).

    Most Influential Ship?

No doubt the liberty ships did their part, but it would be impossible to single out one liberty ship. Would be interesting to name the one support-type vessel that had most impact - off the top of my head I ain't got one. Freebird: yup I forgot the Exeter - always have trouble recalling the...

    Most Influential Ship?

Carrier: I gotta go with the Yorktown, can't forget her contribution at Coral Sea, while it was not pretty, she did her job: things would have been alot worse the Japanese gained strategic victory. Then being capable - against all odds to return to action in time for Midway, and absorb two...

Japanese Zero vs Spitfire vs FW 190

Great discussion fellas, True, pilot skills are critical, but an *"experienced" Spit or Fw 190 pilot would know that they don't have to tangle with the zero if they choose not to, if they choose to fight it can be on their terms (boom/zoom). The experienced zero pilot would not have the...
