Unfortunately, the blue paint I'm using comes from a can, so that idea is out the window. I don't wanna break out my airbrush if I don't have to. Mainly cos I see this as a quick build, despite me wanting to try rigging this bird. The way the actual aircraft is built, I've used little to no seam...
Primer applied to the Stearman. I also sprayed the blue onto the wheel hubs. I feel that it is too light a blue, however. I'll Have to get something darker.
I've completely assembled the engine and assembled the wings to the fuselage. The engine won't be installed until all painting and dealing is completes. Also, I've stuffed cotton balls into the cowling aand the cockpits to protect the already painted parts.
Prop is fully painted! I firstly went with an aluminum hub and blak baea and yellow tips, hen I decided togo with all chrome.....looked horrible, so I went with what I previously wanted. Looks great :D
Thanks, fellas! The hardest part about this build is trying to figure out what to use for rigging. One person used 0.2 nickel, another person used .008 steel guitar string. I just boight a spool of .20 bead wire from hobby lobby. I've been hearing that the instructions don't give accurate...
thanks, fellas! I love painting radial engines <3 and if you do decide to get this kit, make sure it's Revell. you'll blow through it in no time! and someone said that puttying isn't really that necessary with this kit, but we'll find out sooner or later. I'll be painting it the Army Blue and...
hey fellas! a Hobby Lobby went up where a K-mart used to be in a town near me early this month, so I decided to check it out with my mother (haven't been to Hobby Lobby since I visited the El Paso branch in '08. they didn't have all that much for aircraft kits, but had an amazing array of...
couldn't resist!!! I WAS gonna buy a Back to the Future Delorean from Polar Lights at Walmart, but I saw it was snap-together. so I bought this instead. it'll be my first sports car. and no, you won't see me building any ferraris or lamborghinis currently being produced. I'll only build ones...
see, the thing is, this will only be used for photo shoots of finished models, then they go on a shelf. it's not gonna be a permanent display base. I'm looking to build something that'll be universal.
I think I'll go with a finer grit, cos I'll be having multiple scales from 1/48 to 1/200 and I've seen someone say that the concrete squares vary in size at a lot of airports
