Hi all, I am currently trying to write a short book on a Luftwaffe bombing raid during the Battle of Britain. I am writing about a JU 88 squadron and want to include a chapter on the preparation for the mission.

Does anyone have an recommended reading on the preparations for a mission? I've searched these forums and done some general online searching but can't seem to find anything.

I assume the preparation would involve things such as an intelligence briefing for the crew, target information, flight paths, expected AA and enemy fighter intelligence, escorting fighter waypoints etc. And the ground crew would fuel up, bomb up the aircraft, check vitals such as oil levels in the engine etc. Load up the defensive armament, check all glass panes are wiped clean, may check radio equipment, run up the engines.

But these are all guesses! If anybody could recommend any books or online sources that had a good description of the preparations for a Luftwaffe bombing mission I would be really grateful!

Cheers!!

It may not be exactly what you are looking for but IMHO Michael Korda's Wings like Eagles is one of the best books I have read on the Battle of Britain. He does give both accounts of both sides.
