The attached video explores what a typical bombing mission was like by following Mietek's own account of his participation in the 1,000-bomber raid on Cologne in May 1942. Mieczysław Jonikas, DFC, or Mietek as he was often called, was a Polish pilot who served in RAF 305 Squadron, carrying out combat missions in Wellington bombers at the beginning of the Second World War. He took part in the first Allied operations over Germany and France. This is the second video in a 2 part series. The link to the first video is in the Youtube notes.
