Did the Ar-196s operating in the Aegean and Adriatic receive any regional camo? Factory scheme was RLM 72/73 over RLM65. (great over North Atlantic / North Sea, not so much over the Med.) Would a change to RLM 78 (from the "Trop" scheme) for the underside have been made? (Dont think the RLM79 would work well over the sea. ) In 1943 ,when the new RLM 80 series colors came in, RLM 83 Blau was (Allegedly! Lets keep to the issue at hand and not get into the "Blue- Green".... "taste great- Less filling"... BS.) slated for Med., over water camo. One source saying as a base with RLM79 squiggles (? RLM 65/76/78 would make more sense.) ,or in the splinter scheme with RLM72. (Aweful dark. Doesnt look like much of and improvement on the 72/73 combo.)
In octeber 1943, A Junker Ju-88 trop, "B3+MH", WNr. 550396 of 1.Kampfgeschwader 54 mistakenly lands at Dübendorf, Switzerland. A Swiss report describes its camouflage as Oberseite Wasser- und Wüstentarnung, Unterseite Schwarz. This translates as Upper side Water and desert camouflage, bottom side black. They also took pictures of the aircraft.
