The plane suffered a hard landing while on floats which made repairs to the Fuselage and cowling necessary, which may be why the cowling no longer has the pin striping on it.
If you go to the NASM on the Mall in Washington DC and look at the helicopter display in the background and watch the accompanying video you will learn from the pilots of this around the world aircraft many things...including that the helicopter is far to expensive to ever just sit in a museum!
