Hello Gents,
would any of the local expert know many B-17 have been deployed to ETO and MTO in their F and G versions?
The material I have read mention either the amount of aircraft produced for each version or the amount of B-17, all versions taken together, deployed to each theater of operation but I haven't been able to find a breakdown for each version.
Sources I looked in:
Army Air Forces Statistical Digest (of course)
Boeing B-17: Flying Fortress (Crowood Aviation), Martin W. Bowman
B-17 Flying Fortress in Detail and Scale (Vol. 1-3), Lloyd, Alwyn T. and Terry D. Moore.
Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (Osprey Production Line to Frontline 2), Michael O'Leary.
USAAF B-17 Dispositions
