I was reading a bit on the Bf 110 fuel tanks and ran into some conflicting data, there was supposed to be a R7 or U8 mod that provided the aircraft with a fuel tank in the cockpit:
First time I have ever heard of it and have been unable to find any references to its actual use, given how limited its fuel load was seems like a potential solution and better than the draggy drop tanks.
I have also been wondering as to why they didnt include tanks on the outer panels, ahead of the radiators.
