Anyone live near Dallas or McKinney, Texas? We need a first-person, first look at our new book.

My dad and I, through his personal press, are about to publish the first volume of my friend Joe Bowman's monumental planned three-volume series of USAF Medal of Honor recipients bios. He's covering all 62 recipients, from 1918 to now, with life-to-death comprehensive biographies, with special sections devoted to their MoH actions. Thirty-plus years of research, including the most up-to-date archival research and numerous interviews with the family members and peers of the recipients, and some of the recipients themselves. Each volume contains two appendices dedicated to all of the awards and decorations received by each recipient as well as the official citations for all of those from the U.S., plus endnotes, an extensive bibliography, and an index.

I'd like to get a take on the physical prrof copy by someone in our target audience, who I feel confident is represented by the members of this forum.

I'm north of Greenville, so anyone near Dallas or McKinney is about equally accessible.

We're planning to publish on Thursday, so the sooner I can meet with someone, the better.

Thanks in advance,

Clint

I lived in D/FW for years, live in the Hill Country now. What is it you want proofed? I can't be physically available on such short notice, but can proof a pdf easily. I have strong English skills if that is the issue. I may be able to provide local correction especially for the Fort Worth side of the Metroplex. I was stationed at Carswell for four years from 1989-1993, if that info is germane to your need.

If I can help, I'll be happy to. Send me a PM and we can carry on from there.

Hi, very much appreciate the reply. In this case we do actually need someone local to be able to look over the physical proof copy itself. We're trying to get a better feel for the market price.

Do you happen to know anybody in the area still who might be in our target audience? If you do, you can tell me in the PM I'm about to send you regarding the PDF.

Thanks again,

Clint

Unfortunately I don't. I have a couple of cousins in Carrollton, but neither are well-schooled in WWII info outside of the broad outline, nor are they in the publishing business.

Best of luck for your dad and yourself. These stories need to be preserved and I wish I could offer more assistance to that end. Good on y'all for taking up the work, and hopefully someone can help. I know there are a few other Texans here as well, hopefully one of them can help you out.
