OK I'm a lover of '50s sci-fi, and the cheesier the better as far as I'm concerned. But I was particularly blown off my chair by this scene while watching "Flight to Mars" (1951) yesterday:

The head of the skinny assassin droid from Star Wars is an old jet engine flame tube.
Strangely enough, I was alerted to an "F-86" ejection seat among a container load of aircraft parts bought for one of the Star Wars movies circa 2000. Sadly not F-86 but a pair of early B-52 crew seats.
