Bomber? I guess it depends on what you need out of it. The Pe-2 had the speed, but the Tu-2 could carry twice the load and had a greater range.

New information available to all thanks to Mike Williams. He has an awesome sight by the way, WWII Aircraft Performance. Best Russian fighter? It's like every other discussion of this kind: IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT THE AIRCRAFT TO BE ABLE TO DO. The information Mr. Williams has recently posted from official documents relates to the P-39, P-40 and P-63. The P-63 is related to this discussion. The following performance figures are for the Kingcobras in VVS service before the end of WW2.
Height (meters), Speed (mph), Climb (fpm) and Time to climb to height:

Height......P-63A-10.........P-63C-1

10,000.....376/1025/11.8...407/1080/11.8
Test weight...8,592 lbs...........8,933 lbs.
W.E.P............1,825 hp...........1,800 hp.

The P-63 was the over all fastest, quickest climbing, most rugged and longest ranging single engine fighter in the VVS inventory in 1945. The P-63A had a maximum range of 2,575 mls. That put it in league with the P-51B/D, P-38L and P-47N.
