And I have now tried chatgpt, which gives a more likely answer, the DH.9A Ninak.

It certainly fits, but the DH.9A was under developemnt before the RAF was first created, despite not entering service until after its formation. The first aircraft specification created by the newly formed Air Ministry in 1918 was Specification No.1 for a single-seat scout to replace the Sopwith Snipe, to which the Nieuport Nighthawk, designed by Henry Folland was built. It's first flight wasn't until 1919 though and it's interesting to note that the RAF's first fighter type to enter production and service after the war was the Gloster Grebe also designed by Folland.
