Can anyone tell what these marking mean?

Photo of C-47s, in Sicily and Italy from the 62nd TCG, 51st TCS

Two have the letter "L" behind the door, one has the letter "S" behind the door, one has the letter "F" in front of the horizontal stabilizer, one has an "E" on the rudder, another has the letter "N" on the rudder and one has the number "33" behind the door. On the back of each of the photos, "Sicily Italy - General."

Also was it common to have nose art and or nose numbers for C-47s Sicily and Italy?
