Does anyone recognise the following plot from a short story I read many many years ago and cannot place? A pilot is lost at night, near Holland and picks up phantom radio broadcasts from Luftwaffe night fighter ground control using a callsign "dragonfly control". Its not Frederick Forsyth's "The Shepherd" (but that one is somewhat similar)... sort of a ghost story in that it's set post war. No one else I've asked has a clue what the story is called, or who wrote it!

Obviously you've no idea what the book was titled, but do you have any other info about it, was it all aviation stories or supernatural stories, that sort of thing might help someone to pin it down, a couple of google searches have haven't brought anything to light .

Alas I don't recall, I'm not a horror or ghost story reader it was likely an aviation or wartime themed collection. Thanks for having a think and it's a great logical question you've asked
