Hi! This part has me hot under the collar...I can't ID it!
I'm thinking oil cooler intake, as the dimensions are approx 50cm wide.
I've looked pretty thoroughly, I can't see a part number anywhere on it.

It seems it was of light blue colour that was used for undersides rather than for tops. Secondly , there is the rust noticed what may indicate the steel but not the aluminium alloy used for making a such part of WW2 aircraft.
 
Steel is not necessarily a problem but the pop rivets are unusual for ww2 though they did exist along with Chobert and similar fasteners.
The big latch parts on the side do look like Hartwell or equivalent latches. The leather gasket looks good.

From the size it is more likely a carb intake but that is not gospel.

Look again for part numbers - they solve all sorts of riddles
