My original crew, 2nd LT. Howard C. Lacker, was lost in a mid-air collision near Leipzig, Germany on April 6, 1945. I didn't learn of their internment locations until years after the accident. These pictures were taken by strangers who became friends.

God does know and that is a comforting thought. I did not learn of the resting places of my crew for fifty years after the war. Thanks for your thoughtful post.Bill, at the very least your friends have an honored resting place. Most of my friends simply vanished and their fate known only to God. That they died quickly is a prayer.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.
Thanks and praise, for our days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky;
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.
Thanks for the beautiful thoughtBill, Remember them as they were and though they didn't get to come home as you did, God have you live in memory of them.
