From what I can see, BF-109E-3 not only outclassed D.520 in top speed, but in rate of climb, firepower and the rate of turn especially in the vertical. Although their initial turn rates should be roughly the same. Just in sustained turn fight the 109E should find an edge.

I think the Czechoslovak Avia B-135 would of been tougher adversary for BF-109E than the D.520 eventhough the B-135 uses weaker HS 12Ycrs engine (860hp)
