D49C DC49C Aircraft part numbers identification request

I've got a control column from an aircraft which i think is possibly late 1930s or early 1940s period possibly ex RAF light bomber? Can anyone help to identify either the type of aircraft possibly the manufactures code?

The numbers are:

D49C 2059
D49C 115
DC49C 88
D49C / 63
D49C 151
AH2291

Any help or pointers would be great

Any chance of a photo?
Many aircraft manufacturers used a distinct 'style' of control column/yoke which, although it may not identify the type of aircraft, might narrow things down to the company who made it.
