Dates

Hi I'm Ash and I'm looking for correct dates for Ww1. My book says that Germany stormed through Belgium on 2 August but then bombed Leige on the 4th of August. I look online for dates and it says the Battle of Leige was on 5th of August. It's either on 4th or 5th. Are dates in my book correct?

From my book....
- 4 August ... War declared on Belgium. Invasion begins on 15-mile front and includes attack on the fortress city of Liège. Cavalry take Visé, eight miles north of the city and ford the River Meuse north and south of the city. Belgian Army concentrates behind the River Gete to the west of Liège.

- 5 August ... Demand for free passage through Liège rejected by Belgian Government. Surprise night attack on Liège by six composite brigades fails to capture any of the twelve forts. Namur reached by cavalry patrols.

- 6 August ... 14 Brigade failed to take Liege forts after night assault. Situation saved by arrival of Ludendorff who tries a different approach, personally leading the men through gaps between the forts but forts continue to resist. French Sordet Cavalry Corps cross into Belgium with King's permission and get to within 9 miles of Liège. Zeppelin raid on Liège forts.

- 7 August ... City of Liège falls giving troops river crossings but forts continue to hold out.

As you may notice, on the 4th August Germans approached Liège. Then they demanded the free passing through the Liège but were rejected. As a result , Germans started the attack at the night of the 5/6th August. so the 5th August is the correct date
