Earlier Lockheed (or Martin) carrier aircraft? (1 Viewer)

I believe the F-35 is Lockheed's first carrier fighter, and the S-3 Viking (ES-3A Shadow) is the firm's first carrier aircraft of any sort, excluding C-130 Hercules (KC-130 "Carrier Onboard Delivery" trials). Lockheed has been making aircraft since 1926.

Besides the Model 822 (P-38 with carrier mods), were there other Lockheed aircraft considered for USN carrier use, or others not considered that we now think could have made for good carrier aircraft? The Lockheed Electra looks like it would make a good COD.

To be honest, I think Martin built an early torpedo plane but it didn't win the contract.

You are forgetting the Mauler, granted it was short lived in Carrier service, but my Father actually preferred them over the Skyraider. (I think he was the only one though)

Pre-WW2, following on from the acquisition of a small number of Lockheed Model 12A Electra Junior as the JO-1 & 2 a single XJO-3 with a fixed undercarriage was acquired. It became the first tricycle aircraft to operate from a carrier in 1939.

A small number of Lockheed P2V-1 Neptune aircraft were modified for JATO assisted carrier take off as emergency nuclear bombers in 1948. No ability to land on however. They preceded the North American AJ Savage which was fully carrier capable.
