Nice shot, I don't think in has a Canopy over the cockpit either! Defiantly a long development program away from the first production models.
Yep, that's the first D.520 prototype of 1938. No spinner and no cockpit slided back hood.

and enlarged tail fin.
Not enlarged, but smaller. During tests, the tail fin was found to lack heigh and a taller fin was built. So the prototype tail lost temporarily its French 3-colors flag... (see this thread, posts #39 and #44).
In post #131, I think the second picture is inverted, in D 520-01 the small pitot tube was on left wing.
