Experimenting with Excel

I installed Excel recently (thanks GregP for the push). I am planning to transfer
all the WW2 fighter information I have accumulated over the last several years
from my files (thanks Mike and Neil for the help) to Excel. I have started with the
P-51D. I will now attempt to see if I can transfer that information to this post for
future referencing.

Wow, that didn't go as planned. Anyone have any information on how this can
be done?

If you've got the latest version of Excel:
File, Save a Copy, and select PDF from the drop-down

I haven't located a 'Save a Copy' yet.

On the particular page I am trying to post there is a "Faxit PDF" button.
I pushed that and then off to the left I chose the "Create PDF". I the form
I tried to post came up on two pages (my fault). I am unable to do anything
with the two pages (at this time). I'm still working on if for a few more minutes
until bedtime though.

Check in the Excel options at its top bar. File->Save As. The File selector should be opened. Find a line with "Save as file type" or just File Type and click the small triangle on its right. The line should be unfolded with all allowed file types for the Save option. Check if there is the PDF type. It there is , choose it and the click the Save As button below.

Also please check if there isn't the option "Export as PDF" in the same File menu of the Excel. File -> Export as PDF.

It might be labelled 'Save As' in 2013.

There might also be an option under hte print menu. I've got 'Microsoft Print to PDF" listed as a printer

Yep. Instead of selecting your printer there should be a print to pdf option.

You can also use the CODE function to have columns align.

Thanks everyone for responding. I have been able to turn the excel page into a PDF
and am able to read it on the same area as I read other PDFs. I just haven't figured
out how to 'copy / paste' it here...yet.

I'm still working on it.

Click the "Attach files" button and then choose the PDF file in the File selector. When the file is added click the "Post replay" button. In the case all of users would be able to either download the file or open and browse it. However if you want to show a particular page of the PDF document you have to take "a pic" of the page. For that you have to open your PDF file with the Adobe Reader or another soft for readin/edition of the PDF documents. In the Edit menu at the top bar, you will find the icon of camera. Click that and then mark the area ( page ) for copying. The pic is taken automatically and copied to the clipboard. Then you have to open a pic editor eg the IrfanView and paste the clipboard content to the pic editor. The next step is to save the pic as a file of JPG type or another, eg. GiF, PNG etc.
The Adobe Reader allows to copy a page without using the camera option. Just click the page you want to copy with the left mouse button in order to mark it and then click with the right mouse button to get the popup menu with the Copy option. The next steps like above for the IrfanView and Clipboard content.

I have downloaded the file on my HDD and opened with the AR. No trouble. Also I opened it directly from the post without any problem. So both ways of accessing work.

You could always just attach the excel files.

Also true. But there may be a trouble with opening of the file if there is no the Mickeysoft Office installed. Also saving with the newer Excell may cause a problem for the older programs because of the different file extension. So the PDF form is let's say quite universal.

Here goes gumbyk:

Yes, I was able to view it just as entered into excel.

For all those interested, the first column is somewhat self explanatory and the
testing can be viewed on wwiiaircraftperformance.org.
The second column shows the maximum speeds of the same aircraft without
the wing pylons.
The third column is testing of the Mustang IV at higher boosting by the A&AEE.
The forth column is the results of the Soviet testing which I have not finished
filling out yet.
