Good morning,

I own the Komandogerat as shown in the picture, it is in as-new state and I would like to know to which type/modification of BMW-801 this belongs? I have searched the internet but could not find anything based on the data plate. It seems that every modification of BMW-801 had its own slightly modified version of KG.
I would be glad if somebody could identify mine.

Hi,

Yes, a very nice historical relic.
I have not been deeply involved with the BMW 801 but I have some suggestions. I think that you are right, the 801 K-G will be engine model specific, with different settings.
I see yours is numbered 9-801.706-000 which is your first lead. The .706 will be the general K-G part group, I am guessing that there may be others in the range .700 to .709 ?
However, you can only find out by exploring the original manuals. The -000 number block is the sub-group of differences for the specific version, so yours is an original .706-000
version, it is likely there were many other numbers for different build-standards, or for parts of that unit (Gerat).
You need the BMW 801 manuals. You might possibly find some manuals with deep research online, but maybe the fastest way is to purchase the BMW 801 manuals from

Luftfahrt-Archiv Hafner

he sells the compendium for Euro 49.00 .

Greetings,
My old eyes are failing me.
Can anyone make out the Hersteller code.
I see DO?
Hi Steve,
I read D0I (capital D, Zero and a capital I). Maybe it was supposed to be doi?
First thoughts are that the K-G would be made by a BMW sub division, but I also know many tech parts were heavily sub-contracted.

Cheers
