Hi,
I am new to this forum today, as I believe I need some of you fine peoples assistance! I relatively recently acquired what I believe to be trim controls for a ww2 US military aircraft. It is manufactured by the Tycoon tackle company and many of the parts have "Alcoa" cast directly into them. Despite a fair amount of research I have not been able to find what model it is from exactly (perhaps I'm not a good looker). I am hopeful that one (or several) of you can tell me exactly what it is that I have here.

Wow! That's very cool, interestingly enough the Grumman f4fs and f6fs are personal favorites of mine! Does something like this have significant value (not that I'd be really wanting to part with it)? Thank you for the response it's much appreciated!

Hi Ryan,

I wouldn't say significant value unless it's a serviceable item being sold as a spare part.

It does however have a value which is greatly dependent on what people would like to pay.
I used to buy and collect WW2 aircraft parts and crash relics.

Some very simple, small, almost unidentifiable parts costing in to the hundreds of £ because of the provenance of the aircraft it had come from. For example a small 2x2 sized section of outer skin and a section of wiring from Dambusters Lanc AJ-Z cost me close to £200. But they were confirmed parts from that aircraft so were worth their value.

Personally, I'd just keep it and enjoy it for what it is.

Cheers 👍

Chris,
Interesting, it does appear to be in very good serviceable condition all the knobs turn freely and lubricant is still present on the teeth of the gears. I would be neat if it could be used again on a hellcat, I certainly don't think I'd part with it to simply sit in someone's else's display of militaria. One has to wonder why someone would have kept this specific piece, I purchased it at an auction house with 3 1911 barrels and several new boxes of Brazilian 30-06 blank cartridges. Perhaps they saw it was produced by a well know tackle company and thought it to be neat!
Thanks
Ryan

Price also depends on rarity. I can tell you that last year my organization bought a new old stock Mosquito cockpit throttle control and the price was well over $10,000.

Hi,
Wow that's quite a bundle. Anyone have an idea of the scarcity of hellcat parts? I certainly believe what I have was installed and used but it really does appear to be in good condition, so I certainly am curious about its rarity.
Thanks
Ryan

I may have to shoot them an email, although they seem to be (of course) spitfire specialists. Is there a US equivalent?
Thanks
