I found HERE this odd distribution of cartridges about Hurricane Mk.I:
"HURRICANE MARK I
The innermost gun in each wing had an ammunition box with a capacity of 338 rounds, while the next gun had 324
rounds, and the two outer guns 338 rounds each."
I wonder if the next Mark, armed with 12 machine guns, retained same layout for the inner set of 8, and what was the rpg distribution of outer 4 weapons.
Thanks for any help,
GB
P.S.: btw, THIS SITE reports even a variable ammunition load for Hurricane Mk.IIb, from 332 to 436 rpg; is it true?
The first site has it right for the inner four guns (the original Brownings).
Later the magazines for guns 1-4 were upgraded to hold:
1- 370
2- 490
3- 380
4- 395
I don't have a date for this, or how widely-distributed this was, but I have a feeling the impetus behind it was the Sea Hurricane as the Admiralty had a specification of 500 rounds per gun minimum for their own fighters.
