I have a question about the P-47/P-51 pilot grip. What is the transparent button on top of it?

It's not transparent. It is a slotted screw that adjusts the tension/travel of the trigger. On some aircraft, the trigger has two functions. The first detent would start the gun camera and a full squeeze of the trigger fires the guns.

Modern aircraft are still similar in design. Here's a modern grip from an F-15 Eagle fighter. Same travel adjustment screw.

Thank's Fubar and Tex. But the buton is plastic transparent not shiny metal. Most interesting is that this part is not mentioned in any T.O.
In the P-47 the side adjustment is clearli showed and explained. But the transparent? Nada!

Item numbers 5, 6 and 7 in the drawing. You can clearly see the slot on the adjustment barrel on all the pics above. This was there to adjust trigger tension with a flat blade screwdriver. The barrel is metal, as plastic would not be durable enough.
