Nice ones man - I would definitely be grabbing them if I were you!
Definitely twin engined trainer candidates in my opinion - I'm thinking Avro Anson, Airspeed Oxford, or maybe even Cessna Bobcat. Someone with a reference to the numbers may be able to positively identify.
Thanks, I am in Iceland and I am also quite sure this is the plane.
C/N: LT250, Code AD "O"
Operator: RAF 251 Squadron.
The 251 Squad. was reborn August 1, 1944, from No. 279 Squadron and No. 1407 Flight.
For air-sea rescue and Meteorological Reconnaissance and operated from Reykjavík to
Oct. 30, 1945
This is the only Avro Anson plane that crashed in ww2 in Iceland that I am aware of.
You can see info in this link Avro Anson
Excellent information and a real piece of local history. Good find. 251 Squadron was an air-sea-rescue and meteorological flight unit based at Reykyavik and also operated the Boeing Fortress (the B-17 Flying Fortress), Lockeed Hudson and Vickers Warwick for patrol duties. By the time the Anson met its end, Ansons were used by 251 Sqn for communications and general transport duties.
