MIflyer
1st Lieutenant
This morning I took advantage of essentially perfect weather to take off soon after sunrise and do a little aviating.
I was cruising along at 2000 ft and throttled back to about 85 mph, enjoying the view when.......
I got a much too good view of an L-39. He was going in the opposite direction, at just below my altitude, doing well over 200 kts, I am sure. He did a slight turn to move to his right a bit, but as I said, it was much too good of a view.
He was just below me, coming head on, making a very small head on target against the ground, moving like a bat out of hell. And he was CAMOUFLAGED!
It's a good thing that my airplane is polished aluminum. If people are going to be zipping around in little jets at low altitude the airplanes need to be polished aluminum or day glow orange and have a strobe on the nose pointed forward.
Camouflage is really nice on static models but if you actually want to be seen and avoided in a real flying airplane it is a BAD idea!
