Fun fact: Jim's father, George Morrison, was a Pearl Harbor veteran who went on to fly Hellcats and eventually commanded USS Bon Homme Richard. He was naval commander when the Gulf of Tonkin incident happened but I don't think was involved in it directly. Retired as a rear admiral.

Here's the Sr. Morrison's wiki entry. I do not find what VF/CV in WW II. Aviationarchaeology shows two Morrisons in F6Fs 1944-45 but no G.S.

George Stephen Morrison (100111); LT, USN. Shows up on the VF-94, NAS Atlantic City, 1 Jan 1945 roster. Joined the squadron on 1 Nov 1944.
Don't know if he made the squadron's end-of-war West Pac Lexington deployment.
Was promoted to LCDR on 20 Jul 1945.
