Ju 290 A-7 Prototype

• Ju 290 A-7 was the version on which the Luftwaffe specifically planned to deploy the Hs 293 missile.

It was fitted with reinforced wings for external hardpoints.
One Hs 293 launcher was to be installed under each wing.

The A-7 was also prepared for a radio-guided guidance system:

• FuG 203 "Kehl" – the control transmitter for guiding the Hs 293.
• FuG 230 "Strasbourg" – the receiver on the missile.

The A-7 received an additional antenna and electrical system for the guidance unit.

Several A-7 airframes were built, but none were completed fully operational with the Hs 293.

Further Ju 290 V Prototypes

Some of the later prototypes were examined at the factory for Hs 293 integration:

• Ju 290 V9 – often cited as a testbed for Hs 293 preparations.

However, it is not certain whether a complete installation was ever carried out.

• Ju 290 V11 – also linked to A-7 development, but only partially equipped

There are NO known photos showing a Ju 290 with Hs-293 radar mounted.
