Does anyone know anything about the "Lawrance Diesel Radial" that was advertised for sale in the June 1994 edition of Vintage Airplane? It was part of the Joe Gertler collection, which I'm aware held a KHD (Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz-Deutz) DZ-700 radial diesel - was the "Lawrance" in fact a KHD?
Lawrance were carrying out US Navy experiments on air-cooled radial diesel cylinder/s in the 1930/40's; I'm unaware of many confirmed details and wasn't certain they ever built a complete radial - would love to know more information on either the Lawrance or KHD diesels, as the KHD went to a 'secret' (and private) German collector who seems to be known by some, but I would like to know if it is 'locked away' or known within the right circles......
