Hi all, i m working on a creative writing project including the description of a Lockheed Hudson mk III on a long range flight. I cannot seem to find after how long the aircraft needs to refuel. Most sources eg Wikipedia indicate a range of 1960 miles, a cruise speed of 220 mph and an endurance of 6 to 7h. However, i have found two sources that seem to seriously contradict that view: one book by Ian Philpott indicates a range of 1370 miles and a cruise speed of 170 mph. Furthermore, pilots from n.8 RAAF indicate a real endurance of 4.30h to 5h. This would imply a significant diminution in both real range and real endurance, increasing the need for refuelling.

Is it true that the Hudson could fly for 1960 miles and stay in the air for 6h. If not, when would it have had to refuel??

for philpott (p.421 appendix A) see https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=XDHAAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA421&lpg=PA421&dq=lockheed+hudson+endurance&source=bl&ots=DM1r7qNPAz&sig=ACfU3U0qu83v5nW_5bm9p0FtgvWmBffwMg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwinotitubHpAhWhQxUIHYKCBB0Q6AEwDXoECAoQAQ#v=onepage&q=lockheed%20hudson%20endurance&f=false

The Mk.III is supposed to have 644 US gallons of fuel, the Mk III (LR) and the Mk IIIA had extra fuel tanks for 1028 US Gallons acording to Joe Baughers site.
Don't know where they installed but those might be installed at the expense of internal bomb load.
The 4-5h of "real endurance" might be time to bingo fuel
