Hi list I am new here and would like some help on a possible Luftwaffe part that I found with a metal detector a few years back in a place called Fring in Norfolk UK , I was told that a plane came down there during the war . I may be totally wrong but if it is a piece of wreckage I will do some more detecting in the area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance

Nick

I have tried to search for the A in a circle with no joy as of yet thanks for the reply
17th Sept 1942 Do217E-4 7/KG2 crashed at Church farm, Fring. . Approx. 40mls Norfolk is littered with crashes - particularly USAAF bombers due to the number of bases - but have found a reference to a German crash nr Fring - but have also found references to many others in the area - so question of location matching. Before you go back locating ensure you are aware of UK legislation in regards to crashed aircraft recovery especially where there were fatalities - also be aware that german rounds often contained phosphorus as tracer which will self combust once dry.

The color of the part is key. The dark grey color was used on German aircraft. unfortunately you are missing the first numbers (the prefix) of the part number to be able to ID the part. My guess is that you do have a part of a german aircraft

Hi and thank you for the reply .. I did speak to a local who's father remembers a German plane going down in the woods about half a mile away from the spot so hopefully it's German .
I will keep you informed of any other finds as I will be getting back on there in a few weeks time
