Welcome. Looks like that one was installed on a B-17 Flying Fortress but it was installed in other USAAF WW2 aircraft as well. A better shot of the side panel

Yes - the 42D5051 and its equivalents was fitted to many aircraft. As the label says - you can fit to both 12 and 24 volt aircraft.
